Connecting people through audio - Konnected

In March 2023, I was approached by a friend that had an idea , Meet Konnected, a new product facilitating the exchange of ideas, thoughts, and insights through the power of async audio. Unlike aiming to replace platforms like Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces, Konnected aims to allow individuals create, discover and engage in specific content and conversations tailored to their interests, all while maintaining the flexibility and convenience of asynchronous communication.

Problem Space

Async audio as a way of starting conversations have been on the rise, one of it’s pros is that it’s not limited by real time. It allows individuals to participate in conversations at their convenience, asynchronously.

The world is driven by insights. Everyday people try to find these insights to navigate the world. We constantly seek insights about work, our relationship, health & general wellbeing. To get these insights we speak to friends, family members, mentors and sometimes strangers on the internet.

Ideation

The founder had a clear idea of what they wanted to build but also wanted a MVP they could go to market with. Together we came up with the most important features he could take to launch.

Getting Started

The goal here was to onboard uses quickly into the app while collecting only information that was required at that point.

I designed the home screen to be populated with Posts from categories a user selects during account creation so their feed isn’t empty.

Creating a post

To create a post, the user just had to type the question they wanted to ask and post, they could also share to other social media platforms. The CTA to create a post is clear on the homepage so that it’s easy to find

Because we understand how things/responses can be lost in context, I designed an audio experience for responding to a post where you have a limited time to record an answer, see the transcript and post it.

Conclusion

This was such a fun project to work on. It was my first time working on Audio experiences and i got to learn a lot about designing for audio. This product is currently in beta and we are testing to properly understand what works and what doesn’t work. Visit withkonnected.com to join the waitlist.
